SOMETHING OLD, SOMETHING NEW

Well the weather here is lousy.  Cold, rainy and windy.  But we did have some awesome days and we got some things taken care of, like for instance I got the first step put down on the yard.  So the rain is actually good.
We went to grill out Wednesday, but the tank got left open all winter, so it was empty.  Of course, me being the man I have connections so I went to the gas station and exchanged the tank.  We had grilled pork chops and an awesome fruit salad.
Robyn won't let me grill anymore because she says I always over cook the meat.  I'm just trying to protect my family from undercooked food.  She says I am just trying to get out of work.  It's funny though, in the last couple of days she burned the rice and then burned the mac-n-cheese.  (Yup, I said mac-n-cheese)  If you have never burned mac-n-cheese before, don't do it.  It stinks.
After she burned the easy mac she said, and I quote, "I guess you should do all the cooking from now on".  I said 'scuse me?  She said, "I can play that game where I mess something up so I don't have to do it anymore too".  I think she was talking about my laundry skills.  I just said she needed to learn from her mistakes and get back in the kitchen.  Hopefully she will continue to cook for me, I can only eat crackers and cheese for so long.
Here is a pic of that spectacular fruit salad..

mouth watering

I got a present at work.  The company must have gotten tired of hearing me cry about the P.O.S. tablesaw that I have been using.  They broke out the check book and bought a shiney new one for our shop.  It is a big pig too and has a dust collection system with it.  We busted up the concrete floor and ran 220 wiring for it.
I began using it today.  I love it.  It will make my job much easier.  The old saw would blow a breaker just about everytime I cut something.  It even blew a breaker when I would run a sheet of foam through it. Seriously.  Here is a pic of my new set up.

I may set up a cot and spend the night with it

Speaking of work, here is a new table we are making for a local bar.  It has stainless steel inlays of all the Iowa universities with school color glass inlays.  Check it out..

groovy

Here is another project, but I am not going to say anything about it till it's done.  It will be like a game, you try to figure out what it is.  I will tell you about it in a later blog.  This is going to be fun, ready?.. OK, here is the pic..

?

We just found out today at four o'clock that our bid was accepted for a HUGE job for Iowa State.  It starts this fall I think, and will keep us busy through the winter.  Fist bumps all around.  We have two other big jobs that we are waiting for contracts on.  Maybe I will get another raise (we could use it). Keep me in your prayers.
But all work and no play makes Dan a tired boy, so luckily I have this week-end off.  I might go in for a couple hours Saturday but I don't have too,  we will see.  I'm looking forward to sitting on the couch and getting some reading done.  I have almost finished the Left Behind series.  It is a twelve novel series and I am just starting the last book.  I highly recommend reading it.
You're probably asking yourself what the title of this blog was referring too.  So far this has only been about new stuff.  Where's the something old?  OK, you asked so here it is.

OK, OK.  So it isn't really old to Canyon, as a matter of fact it is new to him.  He dosen't have a license yet.  He starts drivers ed. this month.  Also, there is no insurance or plates on the car yet, but he is already asking if he can drive it over to his buddies house to work on it.
It does need some work, the stereo isn't hooked up and both front windows won't roll down.  We were backing up to park and he tried to use the electric mirror adjuster but it wouldn't work either, and I couldn't roll the window down to adjust manually for him.  But it get's better.  He want's to drive to California to see Adam.  That's funny when you hear that he was asking directions to Grandma's (In Sioux City) so I told him to follow the signs.  He said "There's a sign that says this way to grandma's house?"  I said "Of course, how do you think little red riding hood got there?"  I'm worried about him.
The day we picked up the car we stopped to get gas and the poor boy was confused by the pump.

This is way more complicated than x-box

With him driving, Robyn and I will need your prayers even more, and please include him in your prayers too.

Peace

Dan
