Then I had some leisure time. I ran home, changed clothes, picked up Canyon and we headed to the golf course for the first time in almost a year. At the 1st tee, I wrestled my driver away from a spider who had taken up residence in my golf bag and proceeded to put my drive in the middle of the fareway. Unfortunately it was the wrong fareway. Luckily, Canyon decided to play cart golf and joined me on the 9th fareway for his second shot.
The round went surprisingly well. I only lost two,..three,.. well I actually lost count of how many balls I lost but I found several, including one that said MOJO in big letters. I played that ball for the final four holes and had one birdie shot and two par shots. I didn't make any of them but the fact that I had the chance made my round. Canyon shot pretty good too and he gets out to the links less often than me.
Sunday we were joined by my sister Debbie at church. She likes to go when she can and we love to have her come with us. I know she likes the services but she may be drawn to the church for the yummy donuts.

The lesson is part of a series concerning God in America, or the lack there of. They talked about how we forget to be thankful to God for all he provides. Even when we don't think God had his hand in our success, he did. Many of us at times think we made ourselves properous, myself included.
Do I look guilty? Don't answer that. |
But this is not something new. It was a problem in the days of Moses. At church they referenced Deuteronomy. After God led them through the wilderness, providing and protecting them he showed them the promised land and.. "He did all this so you would never say to yourself 'I have achieved this wealth with my own strength and energy." Deuteronomy 8:17. "..Beware that in your plenty you do not forget your Lord.." Deuteronomy 8:11.
If you haven't read Deuteronomy, you should so you can read all this in context. It is amazing how all this was written thousands of years ago, but still applies to us today.
When service was over, they asked if anyone could stay around and help tear down the theater to make room for Vacation Bible School which starts this week. Canyon and I stayed to help take the stadium seats apart.
righty tighty, lefty loosey |
After church, I got a call from my nephew Deano. We call him Deano because his grandpa, my dad, is also named Dean and it helps avoid confusion. Deano said he needed help changing his gas dryer. When we arrived at Deano's he informed me that his old dryer had been on fire in the recent past and although it still worked (He was still using it!) he thought it would be best if we put in a different dryer.
As I changed the gas hook up, he decided to clean the lint out of the dryer vent.
I think there is a whole sheep in there |
I'm going to get him a loom so he can make a sweater |
I feel like I may have just saved a life. Afterwords Robyn and I took Canyon and his cousins out for cheeseburgers, fries and a malt.
We dropped them off at Deano's. You tell me if we got enough sugar in them..

We are gonna make excelent grandparents. Our next stop was at our friend's, Doug and Jan, to see their new kittens. I know this was dangerous.

Of course she want's to get another cat now. But I told her when I come to bed now it is like trying to get into Noah's ark. There are animals all over the bed. I told her our next pet was going to be a fish because it won't sleep on my side of the bed. Don't get me wrong, I liked the kittens too, and I think they liked me. Check it out.

Monday at work I finished up an install that is going to be in the Home Show. I only had my phone camera so the pics are not that great but the bar has fiber optics in it that light up. It's pretty cool.

Tuesday we had to tear out some failing concrete counter tops made by another company so we can install our new tops. We hand loaded this 1200 pounds of concrete (Its a big bar) and hauled it to the dump.
notice the duct tape straps |
We had to tie it down with duct tape and drive very slowly. Amazingly, it held and we had to cut them loose at the dump. Don't ever try this at home, we are trained professionals.
Here is a pic of the bar. I will post finished pics when it is complete.
lots of work still to do |
That's all for now, but here is something to make you smile until next time..
Peace
Dan
